The Bronze Buffalo Championship Course
A Byron Nelson–inspired design set against the mountains of Teton Springs.
Thoughtfully routed through rolling meadows and framed by the surrounding Teton landscape, the Bronze Buffalo Championship Course reflects a classic approach to golf design — strategic, walkable, and rewarding for players of all skill levels. Wide corridors invite confident play from the tee, while subtle contours and well-placed hazards demand precision on approach.
Inspired by the traditions of the game and the enduring legacy of Byron Nelson, the course emphasizes balance over brute force. Risk and reward are ever present, encouraging thoughtful decision-making rather than overpowering length. Each hole unfolds naturally from the land, creating a sense of rhythm that feels both intentional and timeless.
Immaculately maintained throughout the season, the Championship Course offers an experience that is as memorable as it is playable — one that rewards repeat rounds and reveals new character with every visit.
Design & Legacy
A collaboration rooted in friendship and philosophy
The Bronze Buffalo Championship Course holds a unique place in the history of the game. It is one of only two courses where Byron Nelson took a lead role in shaping the design — a project fueled not only by professional expertise, but by a deep personal bond between its collaborators.
Nelson’s collaboration with 1996 U.S. Open Champion Steve Jones and architect Gary Stephenson was rooted in more than just golf. Nelson and Jones shared a profound friendship grounded in faith and a mutual love for fly-fishing — pursuits defined by patience, reflection, and respect for the natural world. That connection is woven into the course itself, where the headwaters of the Teton Valley are as central to the experience as the fairways and greens.

A Masterpiece of Balance
Nelson’s influence, sharpened by Jones’s competitive eye and Stephenson’s technical mastery, emphasizes balance and a natural flow across the land. Rather than relying on forced difficulty, the design rewards intelligent play and thoughtful decision-making. This rare level of collaboration reflects a shared philosophy — a respect for the traditions of the game, a belief in playability, and a commitment to creating a sanctuary that remains rewarding across generations.
